One of the most underrated R&B singers is hands down Keri Hilson. We remember the days when she dominated the charts — not just with her own hit singles, but also as a songwriter for some of the biggest artists like Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls, Mary J Blige and Usher. We still go back to both of her studio albums, In A Perfect World… and No Boys Allowed, as if they were released yesterday. And let’s be honest — ‘Knock You Down’ is one of the best songs ever released.

After fifteen years of not releasing any music, the singer made her comeback last year. She released her project WE NEED TO TALK in three parts. The first two parts, LOVE and DRAMA, arrived earlier, and with the third and final part, REDEMPTION, dropping last Friday, the project is now complete. The first two parts already gave us standout tracks like ‘Bae’, ‘Somethin (Bout U)’ and ‘Again’. Luckily, the final part delivers just as strongly.

We’ve been debating which song to highlight from the project. As much as we love the cheerful, summery ‘Thankful’, we keep coming back to ‘Who’. The track feels like an instant classic from the hitmaker. It reminds us of some of our favorite songs by her, like ‘Make Love’ and ‘Slow Dance’. And that moment at the 1:36 mark — where she stumbles over her words before admitting, “I can’t even write a fucking verse, that’s a first.” — is a perfect reminder that she’s still one of the best songwriters in her lane.
