Kenyan-American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Christian Kuria has been releasing music for years. Despite not being one of the biggest mainstream pop artists out there, he has built a pretty substantial streaming audience. Spotify currently lists him at around 1.4 million monthly listeners. Impressive considering he hasn’t had a commercial hit… yet. This simply means one thing: the music speaks for itself.

Christian is mainly known for his blend of alternative R&B, neo-soul, guitar arrangements and jazz. For his upcoming album EAST, he seems to be stepping away from his usual sound. Set for release in November later this year, the album sees him experimenting with an indie-pop sound. The lead single is the upbeat ‘Dead Internet’. He might be moving further away from the straightforward R&B sound of his earlier work, but with the experimental songwriting on this one, he feels more personal and up-close than ever.
